I just bought a blue paradise gourami a gold gourami and a blue three spot gourami and the paradise always chases the gold whenever it tries to come out of hiding. Im not very good at sexing fish and I can't get pics of them. So I hoped one of you could put pics on here of a male blue paradise a female blue paradise and a male and female gold gourami. It would be much appreciated. Thanks!

Both the paradise fish and the three spot gourami are easy to sex with time. The males will have very long pointed fins and be more vibrant in color (especially in paradise fish). Females will have short and often round fins. Gold gourami and three spots are the same species of fish, just one is gold and the other is blue.

Oh so the male gold will also have long pointed fins?

Mine is female. Thanks!

The gold gourami gets really jumpy whenever I get too close to the tank. Do you think that'll get better when they adjust to the tank?

Yes, male golds will get long pointy fins. The gourami might get better in time. Mine got spooked a lot when I moved him to a different tank and got up from my chair a few feet away from the tank, but now he's not afraid of me. Sometimes its a bad thing when he knows I only want to feed worms to my gudgeons...

Ok. My gold and three spot are both very jumpy. :p

Give 'em a little time to get used to their environment.

Do the paradise Gourami suffer from Iridovirus or is that just Dwarf Gourami>?

Are the ok to buy singly?

Would love one of these in my tank.

Im not sure what iridovirus is but mine is a little bloated right now so im waiting a couple days to feed it.

Only DG get DGD. Though some DG are sold as honey gourami.

I'm fairly certain that Paradise Fish aren't affected by DGD.

Be very careful what you try to keep with your Paradise though, they males are terrors and the females aren't much better.  I currently keep a female Paradise with a large pair of Pearl Gouramis and a large female Three Spot Gourami in a 36 Bowfront tank.  The Paradise holds her own but if it were a male I'd think I'd have some serious problems.  They are like bigger versions of Bettas as far as temperament goes.  Never try to keep 2 males together regardless of tank size.  Any very colorful fish of similar size such as a Dwarf Gourami or Betta will def. fight with the Paradise whether it's a male or a female.  Paradise Fish are known for eating the eyes out of smaller fish such as Tetras, although I have Cherry Barbs I keep with mine & I've seen no damage.

EDIT:  I just read the stock in your signature & Neons & Corries will not do well with a Paradise Gourami, sorry to be the bearer of bad news.

Not the sharpest picture but you can easily see the size difference between this female Paradise Fish & the female Pearl Gourami behind her.
