Can Neon Tetras Be Infected By Cammalanus?

The substrate I have is sand so I gravel vacuumed the best I could and the decor too. The neons aren't showing any signs of being infected and they've been out for a week. Just to make sure what are the symptoms?

Usually a small appetite, the red worms of course, and a sunken belly.
