Hey All,

I had a female molly which i thought was a prenant and posted earlier to know when would it drop the fry... I later isolated it into another tank to be on a safer side, not to loose the fry this time.... Since then, it had been acting quite strange,... it stopped eating or will eat very very very little... its stomach is continously increasing, but no sign of the gravid spot.... and now i culd see its scales standing like they say PINECONING... checked out about dropsy... when left with another male, it wuld move fine with the male.... later, i have separated the male as well as it was nipping at the molly's anal part... Can someone let me know whats going on??? I cant get the pics as of now, as am out of station and my neighbours are taking care of it...

Once again, symtoms....
1)Not eating at all/eating very very very very little.
2)Stomach keeps on increaing with no sign of gravid spot.
3)When i hv checkd it from the top view, was able to see something like its scales sticking/pointing out like PINECONING.
4)When i introduce any molly, it wuld move fine with it....
5)Red small patch sort of above its mouth, jsut abv its upper lip.. not sure what we call that..

Can someone lemme know wht culd it be??

I'm sorry to say this but It sounds like dropsy to me.

Post this in the Tropical Emergencies part in the forum as you would get a larger response.

Pineconing & bloated.... Yes. You've got dropsy here..... some people claim a cure for this, but I've personally never seen a dropsy case survive.

I have placed a male sailfin molly along with this infected one for a day or less, as the affected one was getting dull... now, will my male even get affected ????
The male has been separated again later.....

The molly is now overly pineconed... wht shld i do?? let it suffer till it dies on its own or shld i...................???

very very very cold icy water will end things fast, just put it in a small cup and then put the icy icy water in and drop the fish in,I would only do this if it is really suffering

My poor one died this evening....... :(  :-(
