One female Betta in your tank would be fine.
As for the current, females don't seem to mind it as long as they're not being blown about by it

like said above i think the current is fine, i noticed all my females arent bothered by the current and i even turned it up just a tad for my sunfish to swim in and ill even see my females swim in it a little
