My pair of Blue acaras have a love hate relationship. They only like each other for a few days before the spawn and as soon as the fry are free swimming the mother turns on the dad and is over protective.

I am sick of this and I am splitting them up. This is the 6th batch of fry and they have never gotten along to raise the family I even added a target fish and that helped a little but not enough.

SO
My question is Can I take the mother and the fry out together at the same time and Put them in another tank. Will the mom still care for the fry or will she freak out and eat them?

You cant know for sure till you try it. The fry dont need their mom or dad in the safety of an empty aquarium, if you want to raise them move just the fry only.

Yeah but I want the mom out too. I think I will just give it a go. I don't have enough tanks for fry and mom to be separate. If I take the fry out mom will beat on the dad for the next week till they are ready to spawn again. These fish are crazy.
