Can I Put Quartz In My Tank?

Anyone know the asnwer to this question?

I've checked with vinegar and it doesn't seem to fizz. But I didn't know if there was like some crazy hidden reason that you couldn't have Quartz in an aquarium so I've come to check.

i would boil it and give it a good scrub first

Just make sure there are no sharp edges on it. If so, I would take some sand paper and make it blunt.

I had quartz substrate for a while. It never effected the water chemistry but it was sharp as hell so I chucked it.
