I know you have to position the heater in the tank so that it's diagonal...But I can't see anything on my instructions that say if I can position the heater on one of the short sides of the tank? (one of the short sides of the rectangle)

I bought some of the backgrounds that you stick to the inside back wall of the tank, and just realised that I won't be able to put my heater there...Would the heater work on the short side of the tank?

yes, just make sure there is a flow around it from the filter

Yes I have my heater on the left side glass. It's best near the filter though so water is circulating round it.

Thanks for the replies! That will be perfect if I can put both the heater and filter on the same side wall :)

Sorry to jump the thread, but what if you have a filter / heater built into the lid... the heater is right next to the ... waterfall?.. well under it, but standing up straight.

Is that ok? Hasto be doesnt it

Sorry, urmm....

The filter is on the left of the tank, water get sucked up, filterd through the top of the tank, then poors back into the tank on the right side, the heater is under the part where the water falls back into the tank.... the heater is up right, is that ok? As I cant move it or change the position of it lol.

Any better? lol. Hexagon tank btw, need a picture of it? ;)

LOL that makes sence now, i thought u had the heater in the hood :S.

Yeah thats fine all you have to do is have water movement moving the heated water away from the heater and thermostat
