just wondering...they would be in a 45 gallon. just a couple of kribs and a half dozen or so rams. just a thought im having :shifty:

never kept kribs but have kept rams. what i do know is that the kribs get very territorial and might harrass the rams. i might be wrong though. you should ask someone else who has kept them before for better advice :good:

yes, you can. Just make sure there is plenty of hiding places and plant cover, and you might want to add a dozen zebras.

I'm presuming kribensis12 means zebra danio's which make good dither fish for Kribs. Stocking a pair of Rams, pair of Kribs and 12 zebra danios would require at least a 3 foot 30 gal tank IMO - room for the danios to swim and enough space for the Kribs and Rams to avoid each other. There would still be potential problems for the Rams though as Kribs are more aggressive - still possible though. :good:

As mentioned, yes it is possible, but do you really want to risk it?

The Kribs would terrorise the Rams once they get into spawning mode.

well my thoughts were to put them in my 3ft 45 gallon. would some kribs do better with my electric blues and peacocks maybe?

I think the problems would be reversed if you did that - Kribs are not as aggressive as malawi's by a long shot, even Haps and Peacocks and would probably struggle in that setup. The Ram/Krib combination has more chance of working than that one i'm afraid.

ive gotta say (and in no way am i contradicting anyone) but i have been incredibly surprised at how everyone gets on in that tank. they have all lived together at work since they were wee little ones so maybe thats why they are ok. it is for all intents and purposes a very peaceful malawi tank :) fingers crossed it stays that way.

i might just HAVE to get another tank for some kribs :) good excuse to spend another few hundred dollars lol after having community tanks for so long its hard when you are limited regarding what you can put together especially considering there are so many cool cichlids :)

now one more question: i currently have 1 blue hap male, 2 female, 1 tangerine peacock male, 2 female and a 2 1/2" pleco in a 75gallon tank. do i have room for some more and if so what would anyone suggest i put in there?

I dont know enouhg about malawis to help you with the 75, but the kribs, and rams, should work. Just enouhg cover, and yes the kribs are a little more aggressive, but i kept kribs with mollies, swords, platies, ans guppies with 4 dithers and never had a problem. So, it is your descision.

Well I am not sure If it will work with the numbers of each fish you have, but it is not working for me. I have 4 German Rams and 1 Krib in a 4 ft 50 gallon tank, and the Krib is pretty mean. It might be because she is all alone, But even with all the java moss and wood and rockwork and cherry barbs for dithers I have in the tank the Krib has been nipping the Ram's fins. I don't think it would be so bad except that the Rams are much slower than the Krib, so especially at feeding time the Krib can just make a sharp turn and bite their fins. So in my limited experience, I don't think it would work, and I never wanted to keep the Krib in with my Rams But I am housing her for a friend so the Rams will have to put up with her for now.

dont know why that is happening, kribs arnt that aggressive, especially alone. Yours might have a disposition, but i have never seen somthing like that unless i have 2 of the same sex. It also depends on how big the rams are, if you put the rams in first, then a week later, put the kribs in, they wont have as much territory, and they wont be a aggressive, especially if you have alot of rams( 4 or more).

I am going to do this on the weekend and I am quite sure it will work. I have a pair of Kribs (male and female) but they don't pair  Usually at opposite ends of the tank and the male almost permantly hiding in caves. Therefore, I am sure a pair of Rams can live peacefully in with them.
