Can I Keep Cherry Shrimps?

Here is a site with some info on them. I'm not sure whether they would make it in that tank or not. I'm not really familiar with discus so I don't know if they would eat them or not.

On a side not, I would get the betta (fighter) out ASAP as he may not survive very long in with the other fish. They generally don't do well in community tanks. Also, with discus needing very good water conditions, 2 plecos (very messy) in with them may mean you need to do very frequent water changes.

cherry shrimps are very small bout half inch to an inch ,your discus might see them as a snack. a slightly larger shrimp might be ok such as Caridina japonica bout 2 inchs max, Wood/Singapore shrimp 3 inchs or for a really interesting shrimp that does get quite big bout 6-7 inchs the giant african filter shrimp, or the cameroon armoured shrimp . (needs caves of wood or rock)

Your discus will also see the neons as a snack. Neons also aren't suitable as discus tankmates because they don't like the high temperatures disvus require. You also shouldn't generaly keep neons with bettas as they tend to nip the long fins. Also, bettas and male guppies shouldn't be kept together and an adult discus may also eat a male guppy (males being smaller than females). As for the shrimp, no, cherries wouldn't survive for long. However, there are plenty of other (non filter-feeding) shrimp that get to a larger size and, if bought fully grown or near full-grown, would be ok. Here's another site: http://www.petshrimp.com/index.html

Bettas do do fine in community tanks- with small, non aggressive fish such as glowlight tetras or cardinal teras. They certainly don't belong with discus.

The guppy prefers acidid and hard water- just the opposite what discus do. is there any place you could put him?

And as mentioned, neons suffer in too high temperatures. Cardinal tetras are much better with discus- as long as they are big enough so they won't get eaten.

ps. nice looking discus!

I thought your tank was only a 55 gallon?

And everyone told you that you had too many Discus by themselves.

Before adding anything, you should remove all of those fish but the Discus, and even then it'll be full!

IF you want te shrimp, have 5 Discus, and the shrimp. That's pretty much it.

Sorry to be a downer :/

All the fish apart from the Discus, fighter & Plecs are my first fish, reason I have one guppy & Ram is because the rest died probably on the cycle about 1 year ago. They're probably adapted to the tank and they seem fine, have seen my fighter have a go at my guppy because of its fancy tail, but its only a guppy. Discus should be at a temperature of 28, mine is around 26.7 - 27 and the rest of the fish dont seem to be bothered by it. I heard it was good for Discus to have neons in the tank because it apparentely makes them feel secure seeing shoals of neons  I know I have too many Discus for a 53 Gallon and im thinking about getting rid of the ugliest two. And getting rid of the Plecs.
