Hello all. I am looking to get a couple of cichlids for my 55. They would have to cope with 1 austrailan red rainbow fish, 2 clown loaches, and 1 golden nugget pleco. So what I was thinking were these.
- Blue Acara.. I love these.
- Severum... another one of my fav cichlid. I want a hereos species.
- Geophagus- whatever species I can find.
- Festiums..
I can going to check all my lfs around me to see if I can find these guys.

festivums and acara look nice together, depending on numbers would be great in a 55! I would have 3 acara and 2 festivums!

I feed mine almost everything, flake, pellets, bloodworm, beefheart, tubiflex worms, dried mealworms and even algae wafers!

I would go with the Festivums and Acaras. Severums get too big for a 55g you should really consider 75g minimum for stuff like the golds and greens (ie Heros Efasticious) or 65g for the Rotkiels and Mouth Brooders.

I would then up the numbers of rainbow fish to 5 and keep the GN but put the Clown Loaches in your 150 when the predators have been moved and they are a decent size.

with the Geophagus, for true geophagus species stick to a rule of 70 gallons plus for a group of them even the smaller species will be crammed in in a 55g. But you could get a smaller related species called Cupid Cichlids which would work well with the acaras and festivums :)
