What kind of gourami? I find they are a bit too kick back to handle cichlids even the peaceful ones. I had a female blue opaline and my male keyhole killed it. The gourami could not handle the chiclids pushiness. Other than that the acara would be fine with your other fish. BUT how many angles do you have? It might feel a little crowded with 2 angles and a acara. Then again it could work.

Yes you can keep just one. They rather be part of a mated pair but just one is fine.

i dont have to have the gouramis. i would prefer no gouramis and have blue acaras.

i will probably have 4 angles, its a big tank though so i dont think it would be crowded. i would like maybe 4 acaras, would that mean i would have to have 2 pairs, of can i just get 4 and even if i have 3 males and 1 female they wont bother each other?

OH yes it will be very crowed it's only 60 US gal. Angles get 8" acara 8". That is not large enough for 2 acara pairs and angle pairs. No way that would be a crowded stressful tank. You could do 2 angles and one Acara just fine with a ram or 2. But that's it. or do 2 acaras and some rams. I have just 3 little 2inch acaras right now and they are crazy little fish (in a good way). I'm getting 3 more. They are only 2" I'm letting them grow together and keep just the pair then re-home the others. You could try that.

Male chiclids almost always bother each other. If you have one female you will get a pair and that pair will harass the crap out of the other males. NOT GOOD. Have you ever kept chiclids before? They are special amazing fish.

Lets see what some others think.
