Hi guys,

I bought a 17L tank from Petsathome a couple of months ago and ran a "fishless cycle". I bought 1 platy, 4 cardinal tetras, 1 yoyo loach and a frog but quickly realised the loach will grow way too big and that it was overcrowded (darn LFS!).

So I went out and purchased a 125 Fluval Roma which is nice. I am now running my cycled filter (Rena 40) alongside my Fluval U3. I moved all the fish from the 17 litre to the 125 litre tank and the fish are swimming around happily in there. They have been in the tank for approx. a week now. The loach seems completely fine on his own and doesn't hide much, although he does seem to chase the Tetras a bit (he doesn't try attack them I think he's just curious).

Here are the questions I have:

Do you think I need to get another couple of loaches, even though the single loach seems pretty happy? I was thinking of maybe adding another 2.

Will my tank hold another couple of loaches alongside a few more tropical fish?

Last question is... Do you think that after a week, my tank would be okay to add a couple of more loaches or tropical fish this weekend?

Thanks for your time.

You CAN add 2 yoyo's, but keep in mind they grow to 6 inches adult size (on occasion even larger).  So, if you do add them you'll be already very close to  fully stocked.

I think I'd personally just get the other fish I'd like and leave the loach on his own instead.  If you'd kept him in the tank that they've sold you him for, he would've died a miserable death.  So he's already way better off.

As long as you leave the "old" filter (which is the only one that's really cycled atm) in there you can add fish, yup.  Just don't add too much at once.
