Can I Add My Adf To This Tank?

I have one ADF that I would like to add to my 20 gallon tank with 3 albino corys, 3 dwarf gouramis and 3 platys. Would I be able to without the fish bothering him? Plus he is also a picky eater, but in a few days my aqua glove should arrive so I can hand feed him with tweezers.

I cant really answer your question due to lack of experience, but it might be an idea to get your frog a friend as they really do enjoy each others company.

This would also allow him to get less intimidated by the fish and for the frogs to encourage each other to venture about your tank more freely, allowing you to see him more. ..Unless you have a VERY brave frog of course haha.

is it a 20 gallon standard, long or high?

if it is a high then no, ADF need shallower water than a 20 gallon high provides. remember that they breathe at the surface, so the lower the level the better. a high depth can over time stress a little frog to the point of death.


I agree with getting more than one - they are not territorial in anyway so you do not have to worry about a ratio of genders. also, do not worry about breeding - they may but in a community tank the eggs will be quickly eaten by both the frogs and the fish, and any tadpoles that do hatch will not survive unless they are in a specialized tank with live cultures of food ready and waiting.


planning on hand feeding is great it is really the only way to keep healthy frogs in a community tank.

I did have another frog but he died recently. Will think about getting another one though. And I'm pretty sure it's 20 gallon long. It's like this one-

that tank looks fine...just measure your water depth and make sure it does not exceed 14" for the frogs comfort.

and please make sure you have a snug lid - - I just lost a frog due to dehydration from managing to get out and explore while I was at work.


these frogs do best in a species only tank but can do fine if you are devoted to handfeeding them each time
