last friday my 55gal. tank's filter got turned off for about 11 hours. It's been five days and so far i've been feeding the fish normaly and there have been no ammonia or nitrite readings. I hoping to get some new fish this weekend, but i normally use the 55gal to seed my quarintine tank. The fish i'm hoping to get are 3 swordtails a female blue ram and mabey some shrimp. would it be ok to do this or should i wait longer?

thanks Mikaila31

Could you? Yes. Should you? Probably not. Bearing in mind that swordtails get up to 4 inches long, rainbows like some swimming room, and you've got some fish in there that probably are lonely (the neons, and the danio) and some that are sensitive to changes in water quality (rummynoses) I wouldn't put anything else in there, unless it was to switch the rainbow in your 20 with the neons in your 55.

That's my 2cents; try not to spend it all in one place. :D

Sorry after reading my 1st post i wrote it badly. I'm wondering if the filter would be oK if i take some of the media out to seed my quarintine take?, enough for the 3 swordtails and 1 female blue ram.

For stocking i edited the list as i lost a black-finned cory and 2 neons a couple of months ago. I estimate that i have about 47" of fish. I was told that my stocking list for the tank is fine. The tank has a rena xp3 filter for tanks up to 175gallons and i do water changes every week. My stocking list that i hope to end up with is:5 boeseami rainbow fish, 5 rummy-nose tetras, 3 black-finned corys, 2 julli corys, 2 german blue rams, 4 swordtails and 2 otos. I think that would be OK for the tank.

Also the boeseami rainbow in my 20gal. is a female and the 4 in my 55gal are all male. I don't want to put her in there until i get another female. So i'm taking back one of my males and am hoping to breed the female with one of my males. I hope to get another female that way.

:D Thanks Mikaila31
