Hey guys and gals, It's me again.

Wondering if I can safely add a Black Ghost Knifefish to my 65 gallon tank.

Setup is as follows:

2 Rena XP3 Filters running.

Ammonia - 0
Nitrite - 0
Nitrate - 10
PH - 7.4

Current Fish load:

6 Coradoras
2 Clown Loaches
1 Rainbow Shark
2 Md/Lg Angelfish- they are paired and lay eggs every 11-13 days. They never hatch though always eaten by the angels :p

All my fish get along great. I saw a black ghost knifefish and it looked cool. Is it a fish that I can add to my tank or is it a no go with the current setup? Thanks again for all the forums help. :good:

you would definately need a larger tank because they can grow to 18 in.also they are a nocturnal predator and they would eventually start eating some of your smaller fish.i bought one when i got my 60 gal and then did research(and asked a lot of questions on here)and realized i couldn't keep him.always do what i didn't,research.glad you were smarter than me and asked here first.you should post this in the oddities section,i'm sure you'll get more answers there.

They can grow up to 18" and as above says, prob not best to.

Guess I will pass the Ghost Knifefish, thanks everyone for your imput. :shout:

Hate to butt in - but I shall - what small fish? No small fish on that list that I can see. Providing you get the BGKF from small then he will be used to the other occupants and will not bother them.

Nocturnal predator ?? Yeah right, these guys are pretty harmless - sure you want to add some neons or something similar you may lose them over time, but unlikely if they are with the BGKF from young, they get used to who else is in the tank with them and normally avoid them.

Just my opinion of course.

Mine is still 6" slow growing and has rams, tetras, geo's, SD's and acaras as tank mates - whilst more adventurous as he grows older, any time he senses another fish he automatically turns in the opposite direction - they are peaceful Ive found.

Whilst some people will say they have lost fish to them, usually its because they've added small fish to the mix once these guys get big, well obviously any larger fish is going to eat any smaller fish - thats natural.

Your angel would do more damage then a BGKF IMO.
