I got a 30L tank a few months ago as a new home for my betta, but i feel the filter is pretty crap, and isnt doing my cycling process any favours.

Can anyone recommend a pump to me and or give me link as to where to get one?

Would this one be suitable?

Thanks for any help :good:

Or what one do you have and is it suitable?

I don't think you'd need a filter with a spray/sprinkler bar attached for such a small tank as it would cause too much turbulance in there for your Betta. They prefer calmer waters so any filter you get needs to have the valve turned down a bit so that there isn't a lot of noise and water movement. Obviously you need some, in order for the filter process to work, but not gushing out with lots of bubbles.

I couldn't actually open the page for that ebay item you quoted but I could see the heading for it. Does it say whether the sprinkler bar is detachable? If so, you could buy that one and just take that bit off.

actually i completely disagree with athena on this. i have spray bars in all my betta tanks, and they work fantastically. if you position the bar at the water level pointing at the glass, all the turbulence created by the water flow just runs back against the spray bar and the rest of the tank stays calm and undisturbed.

looks like it could be a good filter for a small tank, definately worth a go :good:

totally agree with u ibble, i have two 4gallon arcadia tanks that came with internal filters that have a spray bar, it keeps putting oxgen in the water, and i face it against the back of the tank, which works very well indeedy

id say its a well worth it buy :)

Thanks for those replies.

The thing is i started my cycle about 11 weeks ago and nothing is happening. Im sure its cause of the pump. I think it was meant for goldfish, it has a large foamy insert for catching poop n stuff i think, then it has a really small thin filter and the water just runs through it all.

Its alright in the way it makes no surface disturbance but i think its the problem.

The tank he is in just now has a filter blasting a good bit of turbulance n i dont think he minds it?

Is there one any of you would recommend for a small tank or is it a case of trial and error!?

Thanks again ;)
