bought it from a reputable large uk LFS chain along with some wysteria and didnt even think about it not being an aquatic plant. However some of the older leaves appear to be breaking down slightly, although there are roots appearing from between most of the new leaf 'shoots' as I would expect in an aquatic plant rather than a marginal.

Cheers for any id's you can give, sorry about the picture quality!

No, thats not a true aquatic I'm afraid.

damn... and I went to a (probably best known) chain of LFS that do have knowledgeable staff in the hope that I would get a true aquatic plant.

Best thing to do is take it out now I suppose...

Update: just gave the LFS a call and asked if there was any possibility that they might have sold me a plant that was not a true aquatic. they quite openly said yes, and that many people like to buy plants that will die in a few weeks just for the decoration, and that next time please ask for only aquatic plants only. at least he was open and honest I suppose! Well I will be ripping out the alien plant and replacing with something more suitable this weekend.
