he is alone in a 50- 55 gallon tank with just him and a common pleco cause i dont know
what else i can put in with him partly cause hes killed the other cichlids ive tried.I would greatly
appreaciate any help Im guessing he is a hybrid though.

He certainly looks like he's got Lombardoi (Kenyi) in him - possibly a male transforming from blue to yellow but i think you may be right with the hybrid guess. :good:

Im guessing since the lombardoi already are suppossed to be in at least a 75 gallon tankand my tank through the tank calculator is only 37.4 us gallons that I caint really add anything else since they are really aggresive and the fact i already have a pleco in there. here are the dimensions of the tank 36 inches long by 12 inches wide by 20 inches high.

The tank is really too small . The rule of thumb for his type of species and others that can go with him is 4 foot length. 1 thing you can do with that tank is get rid of him and get a small group of brachardis or some shell dweelers. Other than that he would be a loner in that tank with the pleco.

It just makes me mad when petstores dont label fish properly they had them labeled assorted africans that says alot huh. i guess i should have done my reasearch a little better. oh well i will just deal with the tank and see how he turns out plus i have my thirty gallon i can add some fish to i only have a couple of swordtails in my community tank. can i put a pair of kribs in a 30 with a few swordtails.

Im starting to think the more i look around at other peoples fish and on the web that he is a peacock
and a bumblebee hybrid? not that lombardoi one.

He's definitely not got any Aulonocara (Peacock) in him - they have a completely different body shape and markings. Crabro hybrid is possible though. :good:

A pair of Kribs should be fine with the swordtails in a 30 gal by the way.

alright i think ive got it could he be a powder blue cichlid and just be missing that black stripe from overbreeding he has the egg spot of a mouthbrooder on his anal fin and he has the stripes of this fish. or should i just give up lol

Lol just give up. When you get a fish from an assorted tank you never know whats its going to be unless your skilled in the identification department. My wife has this problem she see's a fish thats pretty in the assorted tank and she buys it. Then its up to me to figure out what it is. Sometimes its easy and some times its hard. On the other hand i have bought fish that looked like a fish and when they age ( or when the darn dye wears off) I find myself with something different. I have a couple of those in my tank that i'm not 100% sure what they are.

I'm not much of a fan of hybrids, but he's definately a nice looking fish.

but he's definately a nice looking fish
- Agreed :good:

And he's not a Socolofi (powder blue) either i'm afraid.

well thanks for all your help lol i will keep you up dated with pics once he grows a little and maybe gets a bit more color. ;)

Something to take into acount is the flash fireing. When a flash fires it brings out more colors than is really there. I'm thinking its a kenyi turning yellow but time will tell.

thanks you are right that blue isent that bright withought the flash but i dont know how to turn it off.
