Long story short, I've been cylcing (fishless) a tank since the end of July and its still not ready. The ammonia is processing easily within 12 hours but the nitrites arent shifting in 24 let alone 12. This has been the status quo for a good six weeks or so now. I had hoped to get fish in the tank before the New Year but it doesnt look like its going to happen.

Therefore I was wondering if anyone could donate some media to try and get the nitrites kick started? I live in Grimsby (North East Lincolnshire), work in Louth (Lincolnshire) but regularly have runs to S#37###horpe, Hull etc if anyones nearby.

Alternatively Im happy to post a paid, addressed Jiffy bag.

I can't help you with the media but just to let you know your not alone, I've been doing fishless for 2 months.

Hmm, a fishless cycle normally takes around 8 weeks or so... 14weeks is quite unusual... have you checked your ph and nitrates. Need to make sure you ph hasn't crashed and equally that your nitrates aren't too high.

Im on month four with no end in sight. I've tried water changes to reduces the nitrates in the hope that this would encourage nitrite processing but it just doesnt seem to want to take hold. The last tank I cylced was done in six weeks.

The PH did crash about a month ago but cured it with a 99% water change and its been ok since then.

Iv been cycling my tank for 3-4 months now I'm following the same method. Thankfully I have some a media donator have you checked the list at the top of the forum may be someone in there?
