Hi everyone , i still have my topaz puffer in my freshwater tank , i'm not sure how old he is but i have been trying to rehome him for a couple of months or so , tonight he has started curling up at the bottom of the tank , then floating to the surface , then he will have a little swim and go to the bottom again .

Obviously this isnt good , i have no way of introducing saltwater if the case is that he is dying , what can i do ??

Hopefully i can do something if not maybe i should watch him for a copule more hours and if he deteriorates , euthanise him ?

Please no stupid comments i'm not new to the hobby or naive i just havent found him a home yet and thought he would be young enough to withstand freshwater for a while yet

Any help would be so greatly received thanks for now , Pablo76.

I can help but I'll need to ask some Q's so I can give the best possible advice. First, how old is the Puffer? What size tank is it in? What are the other tank inhabitants? When he curls up and floats to the top, does he float upside down or right side up? Last Q, does he change color when he does this, specifically his under belly does it turn black? If you could please answer these Q's that would help me out quite a bit. For now do not euthanize him. I repeat do not euthanize him. It may be nothing that serious. I've seen Puffers do this before for no apparent reason and were just fine after a day or two.
