Maybe. Individual fish vary but I have an Opaline female, a Pearl male & female with some schooling fish and the aggression shown is very mild. If the Opaline was a male I think I'd have a problem................personally I would get a Blue female & make sure that the male Pearl is larger than the blue female. Blue Gouramis are much more aggressive than Pearls and making the Pearl have a size advantage might keep some of that aggression in check.
