I have a 25g tank and a aquaclear mini filter also with a undergravel filter. I want to remove the gravel filter because i want to start growing plants and the aqua clear filter alone is also more quiet. Will the aqua clear mini filter work well enough alone in the tank or do i need a upgrade?

It depends on the stocking. It should work fine on a lightly stocked tank.

As above says, depends on stocking, but i would think it should be ok if not stocked to much.

Why don't you use the Aquaclear to run the undergravel filter and then you can leave both and have a quiet tank. Plants will do fine with an undergravel filter.

Just been looking at his filter and i was just thinking the exact same thing :hyper:

Hi tranmobile :)

Do you have any media in the chamber of the AquaClear? If you fill it with a wad of filter floss it will give your beneficial bacteria a lot of surface area to grow on. It's a small filter, but if you have all your beneficial bacteria living on top, you could easily upgrade later if you wanted to.

As the others have said, it all depends on how many fish you have in the tank.

i have no idea what im doing. could you explain how to do that? ^

Hope this is easy to understand....
