I'm planning to upgrade to a 4 foot tank and found a nice and sturdy looking steel cabinet! :)

The measurements of the cabinet are: (width x height x depth)

96cm x 102cm x 52cm

What this essentially means is the left and right sides of tank would be sticking out slightly.

Will this be a problem or would this cabinet be okay to use for the tank?

Because it was made of steel, and looks really sturdy, I thought it might be okay because a 4 foot wood/pine cabinet at LFS are really expensive!

Thanks in advance. :)

I have put a bigger tank on a smaller stand as a stop gap in an emergancy, and as long as you use a strong peice of wood the same size as the tank so that all of the base is supported then you should get away with it as long as the stand is up to the job.

Never have overhang on tanks when using a stand. This may cause the tank to bow in the centre.. and could eventually lead to the stand collapsing or the tank breaking.
