Why don't manufacturers make this? I hate to see eqpt in tanks and do all I can to hide/disguise it. Black stuff is quite easy to hide against a black bg, but what about the rest?
Why do heaters have to have bright red knobs on? It's not as though they'd be camouflaged that well you couldn't see them at all!
Why are most airstones blue? How on earth are you supposed to hide that?
Some sand/plant coloured stuff would be way better I think.
Is it just me?

I agree

I reckon if a tank manufacturer made a set up with an optional textured 'glove' to go over the heater and internal filter in various effects (ie. stone, slate etc.) it would be an instant best seller.

Being sculptured it would also make them a more natural shape helping the camouflage effect

i tend to bury air stones anyway but the pipe looks *** tall plants ftw
as for filters green would look better ect
but then again alot of people like all bright colours mainly for gold fish they also have silly colour gravel

buts is function over style. if you start covering up heaters etc the dont do their job.

you have no need for equipment in the tank

External filters with glass lily pipes.
External heaters
even get a closed loop system running with a pump if you want more flow without using 'visible' equipment.

This stuff has been around in the planted game for quite some time.

External co2 diffusers and reactors etc.

you could even get a sump so everything goes in that, away from the display tank.

Yes but such equipment is often expensive, and not always suitable for beginners and so on.

I know fluval do a heater with a mirrored cover which reflects the surroundings so it blends in a bit.

Lily pipes are cheap, as are second hand external heaters and inline reactors, or you could use a sump to hide equipment which would be very cheap.

What are lilly pipes and how do you set up a cheap easy sump? Beginners guide to all this would be much appreciated. Filters do look awful inside the tank!

I agree honeythorn and fishnovice. Yes there are ways around it if you have the knowhow, but to be able to go into a LFS and pick up stuff off the shelf to make a really tidy looking tank would be great.

My 2c worth or rather 1.2p lol is ........

Great idea for camo interior equipment but ..........

Imagine joe bloggs suddenly decides on setting an aquarium up

He toddles off to the LFS, sees x @ 9.99 and xx @ 24.99, these perform the same function but the more expensive is a camo design

He thinks phfff 9.99 that's the one for me (as i assume the vast majority of people might do)

So the camo ones are left on the shelf selling slowly and thus creating a premium price for stores that can't sell them

Now as for the external everything, hopefully that's the way i'll be going shortly, want the very minium inside the tank (water feeds/returns only) ohh obviously the usual natural looking aquarium goodies for the fish that i prefer
