Camera Help!

Okay so my girlfriend wants a nice film camera for christmas... problem being I know nothing about them and neither does she really. My question is what do you guys recomend as well as what do I look for? She wants one with a good amount of zoom (I guess you would say)... I am sorry to be such a newb about it but I need to learn and start somewhere! Thanks!

Consider the Kodak P range.

P850 is what I have, 12X optical zoom, 5.1 MP, 2.5" LCD,
image stabilizer.

A lot depends when choosing a camera as to how complicated you want it to be. I have got a new digi camera in the last month and so much depends on what level you want to pitch it at. Do you want to buy a digi-SLR (v. expensive and not for an amateur), a 'prosumer' level camera, which mimics a digi SLR, without the cost or necessarily the complexity, or just a consumer camera. Also how much do you want to spend?

I would look at Kodak if all I wanted was an easy to use camera, but I personally am a fan of Fuji cameras, as I like the lenses on them and am now on to my second Fuji camera (Finepix FS6500sd).

If you want a good place to start and look at what's available on the market, and to compare them, try www.dpreview.com as you will be able to see what's available and compare them....

Thanks guys, just so you know she is an amateur and I am only willing to spend like 200 bucks, which I am realizing is not much in the camera world! I was looking at the Cannon Eos Rebel K2, any good?
