About a month ago I had one of my rainbows in my 55g "pass" a worm like parasite. I siphoned it out of the tank. This fish seemed to recover, gaining weight fast after passing the parasite. I saw no other signs of disease in my tank. Two weeks later I had a dead juvenile rainbow fish, I could see thin red filaments (parasite) protruding from its vent; this fish never showed any signs of disease.

Today I see two very thin and short red filaments, Camallanus I presume, protruding from my angelfish in my 29g tank. I AM PANAKING NOW. I have heard nasty things about this disease!

Any Help is appreciated

I have been to this site:http://inkmkr.com/Fish/CamallanusTreatment/
Do any experienced aquarists here agree with the article on treatment using levamisole hydrochloride?

ammonia, and nitrite <0.1 ppm, nitrate 8-12 ppm, Ph 6.9-7.0, KH = 95
I do weekly 30% changes
I add potassium nitrate, chelated Fe, and Kent micro and phosphate to water
The most recently added fish were the young rainbow fish that apparently infected my tanks, added about 2 months ago....I should note that a few of my rainbow fish have poops that have a very large diameter, very unusual, I suspect it is a sign of intestinal damage from the parasite....

I've heard of that treatment, and it is very safe. The medicine is actually one that is used to boost AIDS patient's immune systems. It is able to be absorbed through the gills, so even fish who aren't eating will benefit from it. I know I am watching my clown loaches very carefully as they are notorious for having this condition, and if any develop it, I will use the treatment you found. Here is another link wiht more info. http://www.loaches.com/faq_parasites.html

Also, your nitrite is a little high. Go ahead and begin daily water changes until that is back at zero.

Thanks for the help,
Re, my nitrite, when I say < 0.1ppm I mean it is undetectable, some would say it is "zero".
