Camallanus Worms

Sounds good, maybe tomorrow vac the dead worms out of the tank, good luck.
ok, My angel is the only expected infected fish in my 29g. I see no signs of worms in my 29g and my angel was in my 55g(the tank with more worms) until recently.

I am just thinking that the treatment is recommended for 24hrs, I am thinking of making like 18hrs or something....any comments?

reasons: 29g inhabitants not heavily infected, few fish in the tank will eat since adding the drug, my angel fish looks like she is in bad shape and I want to get the water clean as fast as possible, my Denisons barbs are in this tank and they are expensive and my favorites and they wont eat and are swimming a bit faster and more agitated than usual. Ok new thing to add, I turned on the lights in my 29g, my fish seemed to like it! They began acting much more "normal" but still very nervous. It seems like the messed up light cycle negatively affected my fish!?(I had room lights on and a 8w bulb on the tank since 8am, but I mean I turned on my plant growing lights)

If she is not in good shape you could remove it, but you will have to keep a look out for them coming back.

Wilder thanks again for all your help. I have more levamisole than I could use if I had horses infected with worms....If anyone needs this stuff in an emergency I would be happy to send them some at cost....I know aquarium enthusiasts outside of north America have problems getting this drug. I read some discus guru in the USA uses levamisole on ALL his wild caught fish in a hospital tank. My rainbows and rasboras were wild caught....hmmm

I am soon going to do water changes in my 29 and 55g to remove the drug. After a treatment like this would you replace the filtermedia, or just rinse it out?

You should add new activated carbon to the filter, and rinse out the bio spounges (and anything else) in dechlorinated tap water. You never want to replace everything as your tank will have to begin the cycling process all over again.

Ok, now after treament and changing about 75% of the water slowly over about 24hrs, and adding new carbon to my filters, my fish still wont eat! All the worms are gone from what I can tell but most of my fish will spit out any food the eat?

They seem to be trying to eat but not liking it...

I have heard about garlic?

I have also heard well rinsed frozen bloodworms could work too....Ill try this first

anyother ideas?

Might be the med making everything taste awful, wouldn't worry yet.

Update:
Fish would not eat for 2 days, now they are all eating and the seem back to normal. This drug Levamisole HCL, does seem to work at Ph 7.3, my angel seems "cured" KNOCK WOOD!

They still have not accepted flake foods without spitting out, they devoured brine shrimp though (my corries and tetras have eaten all along...)

My rainbows that were moderately/heavily infected with worms "SEEM" to have recovered; but my male rainbow that grew so fast before the disease was visible, has lost what apprears to be half his weight! But he is eating well now...

I have enough levamisole to treat a barn full of pigs! Anyone in Canada that needs this drug should try me, I am happy to sell it at cost...

I certainly hope that noone needs this drug, because these worms are nasty!

;)
