Is it possible. Asking a friend to help set up a tank i sent them to the LFS and told them to purchase the "Non Live" white sand and them dump it into the aquarium.

Being the helpful chap that he is, also filled it with water. Excitedly i run to the tank noticing its cloudy as hell, "this is fine" i say "it will be a day before i add plants anyways."

He goes "yeah i got 30lbs for 30 bucks"
I say "wait 30 bucks? that seems, extremely expensive"
He says "Hey its an LFS they * you on the way in and they * you on the way out"
To which i reply "Well mate, it seems YOU have *ed me both ways... THIS IS ARAGONITE"

So here i am, 120 dollars in new plants some rams ect all in quarantine (a tank too small for its own good). And as we all know aragonite harbors extreme calcium levels for corals ect, and will buffer water to aroud 8.2. Now i have very limited SW knowledge maybe ill have to take this question over there if i dont get anything over here BUT:

IF, and ladies and gentelmen i do mean IF, i manage to get all 30 lbs OUT of the aquarium (which had a gravel base... ::Sigh:: (hes helpful and caring, and also not the brightest)

Can i make this stuff Inert. just like good old fashioned sand.

Just so were all on the same page, this is what he snagged. (I mean cmon, it says reef right on it ####)

My idea was to soak it in an acidic based water (although i still dont think it would work) but there was no point in posting it as it would be more hassle than its worth.

Yeah, i heard keeping it in a very acidic water that it will release whatever is in it faster and become inert over time. But as you said, more trouble then its worth
