I've got a female Gold Gourami living in one of my tanks that I've just noticed with todays feeding she has a little red line or two poking out of her anus...

At first I thought Callamanus Worms but I have not added ANYTHING to that tank for at least 3-4 months....

Is there anything else this could be besides Callumanus Worms or can they live in the body without appearing for the 6 months that I've had her?

Otherwise she is healthy and happy as can be.

Thanks.

By the way I dont know water chemistry numbers but this tank has been running for over a year, it's heavily planted and has had no deaths at all. Its only a 10G and I know its pretty small for a Gold Gourami but I had no where else to put her when I sold my 65G in December so shes been living in here untill March-April when I get a 30-40G.

Do the little red lines look like worms.
It sounds like camallanous worms.

I cant really tell if they look like worms or not??........Its just 2 thin red lines poking out a few millimetirs out of her anus.... I tried looking at them for a few minutes straight to see if they are moving around but I dont think they are...

Im thinking Callamanus worms but I've had her for over 6 months and nothing has been added to this tank.. Its just her and 4 WCMM who I've had FOREVER living in that tank so I dont know where she woulda got them from.

I cant see if the minnows have them because their bodies are red and they swim to fast.

Is there anything else that could cause this, like maybe its an interal organ comming out?

I was looking at treatment for the worms and I guess the best treatment is Levamisol but apparently it is non existant in Canada so I would have trouble finding it. I read that Jungles Anti Parasite food has been proven to work against Callamanus worms since it contains Levamisol in it.

Would it be worth it to try the food or what other medication is ment for treating this type of worm?

Look at other signs of internal parasites.
Does the fish look bloated or thin.
is the anus enlarged or red and inflamed.
What colour is her waste when she goes to the toilet.
Another sign of internal parasites can be bent spine.
Sometimes fish will swim on there sides with internal parasites.

You can get this med in canada.

Gel-Tek Ultra Cure PX
Ultra Cure PX is a revolutionary way to treat internal parasites in both freshwater and saltwater fish. With metronidazole and praziquantel, Ultra Cure PX helps control a variety of parasites such as intestinal worms, nematodes, tapeworms, flagellates, fish heartworms, and hexamita. Innovative Gel-Teknology directly treats infected fish and helps prevent secondary infections, which can often occur during periods of infestations. Ultra Cure PX contains fish pheromones to entice and enhance feeding behavior without clouding the aquarium water. Ultra Cure PX is safe for all saltwater and freshwater fish and especially useful with catfish, cichlids, goldfish, and other bottom feeders.

Active Ingredients:
Praziquantel 0.0057%
Flubenol 0.03%
Metronidazole 0.30%

Directions for Use: Hold back all feeding for 1 day before using. Then use Ultra Cure PX as the only product offered to the fish when fed. Add to the aquarium with the dropper tip on the bottle. Hold bottle 2 inches above water surface and squeeze. Offer at least 5 drops per fish twice a day. Repeat every 24 hours for 3 days. For nocturnal fish, add drops when light is off at night.

She doesnt look bloated or thin(she looks big now cuz i kept putting food in for them so i could get her pic or else she just kept swimming around)

Her anus looks fine exept the red lines.

She has normal Gourami waste witch is very long brown thick strings

No bent spine and she is swimming perfectly fine.

I couldn't get a pic of her red things as my camera just isnt good enough(or im not a good picture taker) but heres a pic I got of her overall appearence witch looks fine I think:

Also that Gel med you posted about, I had a look on bigalsonline where i usualy buy my fish stuff from but they didnt have any listed...they have the BX but not PX(BX meaning bacterial i presume so it wont work...) Ill have a look around some stores here to see if i can find any.

Pm colin t to see what he thinks, as he's good.
The only thing I can think of it camallanous worms.

Ok, will do. I just dont want to loose Goldylocks, shes very interactive with me and one of my favs so I would be devestated if this killed her:(
