Cactus Compost

Well, i've seen cactus compost spring up around these forums lately, and seeing as though I am planning on using it in my new tank, I have a few questions about it.

1) Do you use it on it's own, or in layers with sand/gravel on top?

2) Has the person who has been using it come across any problems with it yet?

3) What colour is it?

4) Does it need to be prepared before it's used?

5) How much would it cost for a bag to fill the floor of a 15G (2ft) tank?

6) Does it compact like sand and need to be stirred regularly?

haven't actually used it but:

1) I'm sure you put gravel/sand on top
2)dunno
3) think it's brown or black
4) its quite cheap, so maybe £4 (that is a complete guess )
5) no... don't think so anyway
