Cabomba

Is it true, after pruning Cabomba, the bottom half is nigh on impossible to save? I have read conflicting posts with some saying it will die off and others saying it will continue to grow.
 
Mine is growing at a fair rate of knots and I may be pruning this comming weekend

I think it's supposed to develop 2 new shoots where its been cut.

It should grow new shoots if it is rooted well
