when i first got my cabomba from the store, it was tall and straight.

my cabomba now is growing pretty fast, but it cant stand tall anymore. it alwayas leans, and it just looks messy and weak.

i have 2.7 wpg, in a 46g

im thinking co2 might help, i dont know how, im just hoping

im setting up a co2 system finally, which ive always wanted.

however, there has to be something else as to why the cabomba is retarded, lol.

or maybe its like that.

if so, what are some nice straight background plants?

Ah... cabomba.. I agree - It Sucks!

I've got 120Watts over 50US gals, CO2, root tabs with iron and used to add fertiliter weekly... I got fed up with it gowing like mad for a few weeks - then going yellow and falling apart ALL over the tank.

I decided to move on. (i still find bits of it in the tank!)

I have a similar failiure story with Vallisneria... i still have 3 in the tank - all about 2" high and not doing anything

I do have 2 VERY nice Amazon Swords in there now - doing well :)

Quite tall and bushy and provides great fish hiding holes

Cabomba species really demand 4 Watts per gallon of good spectrum lighting, very clean water, copious CO2 and good trace element fertilising.

Without these, it bolts to the surface, becomes weak and spindly, the lower leaves turn yellow and fall off. You end up with a thin stalk from the substrate to the surface, with a cluster of maybe 6 dwarf stunted leaves at the top.

Limnophila sessiliflora is a similar looking plant and somewhat easier to grow.

WOW! This plant is the best one in my tank! Must be doing something right as its tall, straight and has thick stems.

just wondering how much light you have, if u add co2, any fertilizer?

i would love to keep this plant if i can get it to look better.

I would agree, it is a lighter green than cabomba, but it grows much better.
