Cabinet/stand

as I previously posted ive got myself a tank so I need a cabinet/stand to put it on
 
Its a marina tank so I could easily acquire the stand that was specifically made for the aquarium but I was wondering if anyone had tried other cabinets/stands to any success i.e. ones that aren't necessarily made for aquariums but are a lot more sturdier and possibly better value for money ?

I have done that for all my tanks because I don't think the store bought stands are strong enough and if you make sure it's a good sturdy table, cabinet, or whatever then your good to go.
A great place to find cheap strong older cabinets is at the thrift store ones from the 1960-1980 where usually built very well

Yes, they should be fine just be careful if you spill any water on it. Some cabinets may not be water safe but otherwise should hold up pretty well!
