i have a 21gal tank with 2.5 watts per gall of light. curently planted with Micranthemum umbrosum,Hygrophila polysperma, ricca. and have a presurised c02 system but curentley having problems with hair algae i have the c02 set to 1bp3s could this be the problem not enough c02?

Very possible but how long is the photoperiod? and what flow rate do you have round the tank?

light are on from 10am untill 8pm. resonable water flow running external filter aswell as internal. there is hair on the plant leaves and curl at the end to

maybe cut the light period down abit?, also there maybe a circulation problem for the CO2 or just as you say the CO2 level may be just to low, do you use a drop checker to test the amount of CO2 in the water?... sorry i cant really help much more but im sure the plant geeks will be along soon (no offense aaron, three-fingers spencer, radar etc etc :p), im still learning myself to get that geek status pmsl :)

lmao....i will set the lights to less. i have a jbl ph+c02 tester on the glass inside. and after a couple of days it goes yellow which is very strange as this would indicate to much c02. perhaps i could try incresing water flow some how.

Ahh. THe JBL ones are a bit....well rubbish.
The best way that we hobbyists know of testing CO2 is this method.

It's similar to the JBL one but we add 4dkh water to the drop checker instead of water from the tank. This is because water from the tank is bound to have something else in it other than CO2 that will turn the water acidic. However adding the 4dkh water to the drop checker in the link above, we know exactly what is in it, therefore the colour that it reads, is more or less exact.

Nothing wrong with the JBL drop checker at all if you're using 4dkh in it instead of the tank water they reccomend in the manual. While it lacks the aesthetic value of the glass ones, it's a damn sight easier to read and tbh that's what really matters imo.

Very true, I'm surprised they don't make it themselves actually, most companies don't miss a trick when it comes to finding ways of buying their own products!
