With further looking into the plant side of life, i've ordered some Flourish Excel and Flourish, to aid my plants along.

I was just wondering, is there some sort of easy setup and go kit, I hear you can also easily create your own C02 with yeast etc to keep the costs very cheap?

I was a little put off at first, at the thought of it being very high maintenence, but if I can top-up once every week or two that's easy enough to do... I'd want to stick to the cheaper side of it aswell, being under £30 if at all possible.

Nutrafin kit £15 on ebay, throw out the sachets it comes with and follow the instructions and when it says put in the sachets just put it in 1/3 tsp of yeast. :)

Sounds easy enough! And it'll really help keep my plants healthy and growing?

Should I do this aswell as keep adding Flourish treatments? :)

What type of yeast, any?

the thing is with diy C02, its very unstable and it can cause more problems than its worth. I used to get a lot of BBA when i used it. Your tank is 120l isn't it Jon, personally i wouldn't use it again and 120l IMO is to large to use diy C02. Stick with the excel.

Thanks Ian,

I'm just wanting to get the best out of healthy plants and growth now :)

Hopefully the Flourish will kick in quickly enough.

Not everyone has probs with it, I haven't had a single bit of algae growth and all you do is hook up a couple of bottles with a T-piece and it will be fine, but thats me.

Correct me if i'm wrong steve but don't you have an 80L, not 120L? So you'll likely experience less problems due to your tank being closer to the suitable size for DIY CO2. Some would say even in an 80L it isnt recommended to use yeast bottles :look:

My Dennerle 300 system was a doddle, the gas cylinder is ~5 months old now and still bubbles happily at ~30 per minute.

Only concern of note is that recently I have had to increase the output pressure to attain this rate... Is this likely to be a blockage in the pipe or the "regulator" (black one way valve that sits between the pressure guage output and the pipe connecting to the ladder)?

Hence I said a couple of bottles. :)
