Hey folks,

I am planning to make a 29 gallon tank, 30"x12" footprint, and I would like to have a shoal of 10-15 corydora habrosus in it, among other peaceful fuana.  So far I've planned it to be planted with EcoComplete substrate.  Do you think the habrosus will be okay in that substrate (barbels, finding sinking food, etc.)?

Thats a great substrate for plants but not a good idea when you have cories, you might want to try having a large area with sand and the rest with gravel.

Btw if your wondering why they need sand it's because their gills are made so food goes through while sand comes out, this sadly isn't the same for gravel giving them a hard time finding food.

Thanks AFL.  I've been wanting this thank with South American fish for a long time, so now I'm considering Tahitian Moon Sand, also from CaribSea.  Of course, since it will be planted, I'll probably shove Seachem Flourish Tabs into the sand.  Just an idea right now.  I was never married to EcoComplete.

You can get eco complete fine, which is just the same as sand but with the benefits of iron, calcium, magnesium, potassium, sulfur plus over 25 other elements to nourish your aquatic plants.

According to CarbiSea's website, EcoComplete fine grade's largest particles are 3mm.  That seems large.  Are your cories able to sift through the EcoComplete fine grade?

If anything, I might go with this general set up.  This is a bird's eye view of the tank.
