I've been thinking about getting, perhaps fish, online.
I know some of you have bought stuff online and i was wondering if its a god idea or a bad idea.

Does anyone know any good websites they buy from?

Any tips???

If you can find a reputable dealer online you may be able to find a number of fish for a lower price than you would in your LFS, you will also find that when buying online there is a wider variety than in an LFS. The only downside is that shipping is often high $20+ I've even seen some as high as $80 on aquabid and sometimes fish die before they get to you which is also a bad thing but, a few dealers will give refunds on any fish that die. If you buy online you also have to be home to recieve the shipment otherwise the fish can die.

If your going to buy rarer fish and in multiples quantities then buy it online. if your not going to be home that often and are only buying 1 fish or a few cheap fish then buy from your LFS.

Trimar has a good reputation. Wildwoods has good quality stock (my LFS, or one of) though I've never ordered by post from them before.

Depending on what you're looking for, the buy/sell forums here and PF are my first port of call - theres a lot of people who breed fish out there.

Each to their own on this one i think, i guess it just depends on past experiences. After getting a couple of fish that were really poor quality i now much prefer to check out the lfs' and see the fish before i buy, if you seriously look around you can usualy find what your looking for.

i do have a pet store, which i can see from my flat, but i dont think they would order in for me.

Plus the only other store that sells fish is about 45 minutes train ride away. And i dont want to take fish on the train. lol

most lfs' will order in providing you are willing to wait and the fish you order will sell - in other words nothing to expensive. What fish do you want?

I was thinking :

False Bandit Cory
Swartz's Cory Cat
Panda Cory Cat
Julli Cory
Sterba's Cory
Opaline Gourami
Neon Red Dwarf Gourami
Moonlight Gourami
Neon Blue Dwarf Gourami
Tiger Barb
Steel Blue Killifish
Lamp Eye Killifish
Gold Nugget Pleco
Priness Pleco
Tetra x 5

But i dont think i'd get them all in a 200L tank, so i'll get most of these.

Yeh thats quite a specific list, you should be ok to find most - you might struggle with the killi's though. I would go and see you lfs - there's no harm in asking.

That may be a little overstocked but with good filtration and regular maintenance you should be fine, just introduce your fish slowly.

I wouldn't put a tiger barb in there with gourami's, also tiger barbs are not solitary fish. If your meening neon tetra's get at least six so they can feel comfortable in there shoal otherwise they will cower a lot. Otherwise it looks good - it would be very interesting seeing all those different corydora's in one tank.

Excellent, cheers mate. :good:

I might take out the tiger barb, i'll get the cory and gourami's first and see if i will have room.

I need to remember i have rocks and plants to put in to

hm.....
I use a website that tells you the temp, pH, temper, size Etc....

The temper of all the fish is peaceful.
I hope they get along :(

Wouldn't surprise me if its Thinkfish you're talking about. No website can tell you properly if a number of fish will get on, only experience can tell you that. I agree about the gourami's, they tend to pick on one another (if not the rest of the tanks occupants.)

lmao.

everytime i make a fish list i have to change it because the fish might kill each other :(

I'll just have to see how things work out

Unfortunately fish aren't just ornaments and can't be thrown in together.

The bright side is that when you spend hours researching a stocking list, add them all together and it works fine it is incredibly satisfying.
