Notice there's a lot of stick given to to the pet supertores (i.e pets at home etc). Is it ok to buy fish online or is this a bit dogey too?
Also where is the best place to get them from?

Thanks

If you buy them from a reputable comapany there's few problems, if the packaging and couriers are good then you should get no DOAs. Better selection too usually.

Trimar are reputable but the other site is full of errors & I'd rather see a selling site give scant information about the fish they are selling than give out wrong info to sell the fish.

When buying online you don't get to see the fish so you get what you are given but a bigger problem is people tend to buy more fish than they have cycled tanks ready for......

If you are new it is probably better to travel to a store & come home with a few fish at a time.

We can't buy fish from Aquabid - this comment refers to tetra-man2 made in the newbie section when he said :

aquabid, bit risky tho

:S (it's illegal to ship fish from outside the UK into the UK unless going through DEFRA).

However, if you want to buy fish online within the UK, of course it's risky as it's stressful for the fish - but it's done all the time and as long as you buy from a reputalble dealer and they package very well, it should be fine. Also useful to check what their policy is on DOA's (Dead on Arrivals).

No need to say sorry ;) we don't even know which country Mcbubbles is from - and he/she might very well be in the USA or a country which shipping is perfectly fine. Just thought I'd point out the UK situation in case he/she is indeed from the UK. Because anyone looking at Aquabid, will be very tempted by all the lovely fish on there !
