Hi everyone,
This is a Facebook album that I created that shows the butterflies on temporary exhibit at the AMNH in New York City. I went to the exhibit in March and had to come back with my Sony Cyber shot. HD images, 10 mega-pixels, 10x optical zoom, macro, and manual configuration. Let me know what you think of the photos and if any of you are butterfly experts, please comment with identifications. Wish I could post the actual pictures here, but it's a 33 photo album, so it's a monster album. This was narrowed down from about 200 pictures. LOLOL

. One of the pics of a green and yellow butterfly with its wings closed looks like a Cairns Birdwing Butterfly to me, but I am no way near an expert on many butterfly species. If it is a Cairns Birdwing butterfly it's scientific name is Ornithoptera priamus and gets a wingspan of 17.5cm, and only found in the northern tropics. If it isn't a Cairn's Bridwing then it could be another Aussie native the Richmond Birdwing Ornithoptera richmondia, these are slightly smaller than the Cairn's Birdwing and are found in rainforests in Southeast Queensland and Northern New South Wales. These are pretty endangered in Australia.
