Bumblebee Gobies

Thanks!

I moved the goby into the tank yesterday and added a female guppy. I have to say I was astounded at the change in him. Apparently he didn't appreciate the sterile glass pot... as soon as he was in a more natural environment I got him taking the granules. He hasn't eaten much and he is frightfully thin but it has to be better than nothing.

Try him with small live bloodworms. He'll love them. You can keep them in the fridge for up to a week if you're lucky.

I can't get them live, only frozen. Not a single LFS anywhere near me stocks anything that moves except the fish. He was swimming around this morning and I think I got a few more granules down him. There's altogether too much rotting food in there because I had to distract the guppy with spirulina to get her out of the way. I'm going to clean it tonight.

I don't know what the granules are but these little guys like meaty foods.

Maybe you could get the flow of the filter low down so you can tempt him with some frozen bloodworms. If they catch the flow of the filter then they'll whizz past him and maybe catch his interest. Best to try the worms singly with tweezers or a small pipette so you can measure how much food goes in the tank :D

I didn't even need to turn it down, just aimed the pipette and let fly, which is what I've been doing with the granules. (They are sold as betta food, but are far too small and they sink - go figure? But they're carnivore food, high protein, high meat content. I use them for fry food because they are suitable for fast growing fish, very small and very cheap.)

Anyway, he is now vanishing frozen bloodworm with enthusiastic assistance from the guppy. So fingers crossed that he gets past this. Poor, neglected little goby.
