Building Bubble Nest Under The Filter?

I have my betta in the spawing tank and he's building his bubble nest underneath the filter. Will the eggs be able to hatch this way? I have a styrofoam cup in there that he is completely ignoring. How would I convince him to build the nest elsewhere?

Do you have a picture? I find this hard to believe, as the bubblenest is usually built at the surface

I accidentaly destroyed it? But he was definetly building underneath the filter. I think he just be a little ...eh short bus. Now that I have moved the filter he refuses to build a nest anywhere else.

they will occasionally build nests in caves - pots etc but very occasionally i think this is a link back to their wild beginnings

Well he isn't building a nest anywhere now, is there a way that I can jump start him back to building his nest? Or do I just have to wait and see what happens

Not sure about jump starting but is this his first to be spawn? He's probably still learning the sweetie
