my house has been infiltrated by lots and lots of ants in the house. we have tried spraying the outside but they are still here.
my question is will a bug bomb hurt the fish. my tanks consists of bettas, guppies tetra mystery snails corries khulis.

also if you have any suggestions of ridding my home of ants that would be appreciated as well.

do you know anone who keep's gecko's?
They are the best lizard's at riding of ant's.....In my wife's farm we have a group of gecko's in the kitchen, they will happily stand there wilst your cooking eating the ant's

funny you should mention gekos.. been trawling freeads etc for a setup as ive been persuaded that we should have one, id rather a bearded dragon tho.. got any of those in the kitchen?

If you are going to use chemicals, then make sure all the tanks have tight fitting lids and I would also cover them with something too, towels, sheets or something to stop any getting thru the gaps in the lids.

We have stuff here, its a liquid that you put in some containers, the ants eat it and also take it back to the nests, which then kills the whole nest.

not sure what the chemical is you using?
doe's it literally exslode like a bug caking everything in a chemical

shela her parent's have lot's of iguana's running around....I just love them

lizards are not a good idea we have four cats. (useless cats refusing to eat the ants!.)

hmm had a few lizardy things in Pakistan, not very errmm relaxing when your trying to get to sleep and they are sitting on the AC unit staring at you
must be beautiful tho, i envy you

Make ant trap, take a long plastic container and put food in one side, and put sitck tap about 2 inches from the food. They will all get stuck. We've had a bug bomb done at our house , and our fish made it. But you never know.

Ants find their way around by scent trails. We had an ant problem but I cleaned out the cabinets of food and used spray bleach in it and wiped. Then mopped the floor to get rid of their trails and put down some ant traps (they are square and black) and the ants bring bad food back to the nest.

Not sure about the gas and tanks though.

Well, just my thoughts, but remember that post a while back about the betta in the hair salon? there was an article about the sprays harming fish....if hairspray is a no go, Id have to assume so is a bug bomb.

Well, my mom is having our house sprayed again. Sometime in the next 2 weeks. Last time she told me she asked the guy about it harming fish and apparently it doesnt. Idk, but I probably wont be home to do a water change after he sprays. I will most likely do my best to cover the tanks.

Cover the tank with something and put carbon in the filter just before you use it, then change the carbon over every 24 hours until your sure enough there's not much left of them chemicals left around.

Perform 50% water changes daily too.

Then you should be perfectly safe :good:.

Just some ant suggestions! We went crazy last year with ants everywhere. No matter what we did, ants. Blehck. They were coming in right under our front door. A couple of things finally worked. Ant stakes outside the house so they'd carry the poison to the nest and that would be that for those nesting near the house. (We used I think Raid outside ant stakes outside - doesn't matter so much I think as long as they are made for outside.) Grant's Ant Stakes were highly recommended for inside the house - but ONLY where no pets or kids can get to them! We didn't use the baits inside the house because I have a young child and I didn't trust he wouldn't find them. And the very best, I really mean it: peppermint oil. Go to a health food store and get essence of peppermint (in a teeny bottle - it's the same stuff used in aromatherapy etc), put 20 drops into a big sprayer bottle (like a quart) filled with water, and spray the outsides of your doorways, up and down the walls outside windows and doors etc. Use it outside only though - it's pretty strong when you first spray it. (And don't smell the little bottle from close up - it'll knock you out! )

Also, something I used briefly last year was baby powder. Any fine powder works - cinnamon has a good reputation too. They will NOT cross it, so you basically put it in a fine line. I did this outside and oh man, when it got wet - what a mess. So beware using it outside where it matters, like across your doorway.

Another thing suggested to me early on - and I have not yet tried - was copper coins. Old remedy - believed that ants won't cross when there are copper coins in the vicinity. No idea... sounds hokey, but you never know I guess. (Got to be real copper though - test with a magnet.)

Good luck!
