Just ordered some Fluval Bug Bites. Is this food a daily staple or a treat?
I’ve currently been feeding Omega One Super Color Flakes once a day to my Danios and Tetras. I have a few Otos and Nerites in the tank too.

I use them probably once or twice a week. They are one of my favourites as all my cichlids, cories, plecos, rainbows and danios like them. I don’t really have a “staple food” but they are certainly one of the foods I use the most. As I think I have 7-8 different types which I rotate.

So they aren’t meant to be a daily food, just something to mix in with other foods?

It isn't bad but not the best exclusively for danios and most tetra as it lacks the veggie matter for a balance meal.

I do use fluval bug bites for my meat eaters.

I use three different foods, typical Tetra tropical flake, an Omega flake food, and Bug Bites. I use a different one for each consecutive meal. Supplement with mostly frozen bloodworms, and brine shrimp with occasional live mosquito larva. Bug bites is the favorite flake food for my Angels.

Bug bites are my staple food in my large fishroom. They aren't a treat food. However, the fish I keep are natural insect eaters. You have to look up info on your fish to know what their diet should be.

When I was a kid, I was given great advice about flake foods, and I've stuck with it for over 50 years. It was to always have at least 3 different types, and to rotate feedings so all fish have their needs met. Right now, I have bug bites, Tropical Brand insect pellets, a colour food and a shrimp/kelp based food. I also feed a lot of live foods, but that's for a different post.

All processed fish foods tend to claim miracles, but I am very impressed by soldier fly larvae and other insect based foods as staples. Your Otos won't go crazy for any flakes, but the usual tetras and danios are insect predators in nature when they get a chance.

They're a staple. But a varied diet is a key to fish health. So alternate between that and another high quality food. (Like those Omega One flakes). You can also include live foods, frozen foods and blanched vegetables in the diet.

Fluval really changed the game with the insect based formula.

I don't know. They're made in Poland, if that helps.
Is this it?
