I want a small pump to move water from bucket to tank during water changes. I'm getting sick of either ruining my plants or spending ages gently pouring the water in using a jug. A real time hog when WC'ing 4 tanks. I've found this on ebay which is a 600LPH powerhead that has a hose. Could this work?
Thanks

If you are in the US, I'd get the Aqueon water changer. I bought one myself but since I am in Europe the delivery was expensive. It is a heaven changing the water with it now and I do 3 tanks in no time. Have a look on youtube for a demonstration, it connects to the tap and uses the water pressure to either siphon the water out or poor the water in. I've been using mine since about January and I am very happy with it.

I saw a product called a Python No Spill too which sounds similar. Unfortunately I'm in the UK an its only available in the US. Shipping over is ridiculous cost I'd rather struggle LOL. Does anyone know of a similar product available in the UK? Would really appreciate it! :good:

I use a maxi-jet 1200 for this.
I got sick and tired of it, literally as I have a bad back and can't lift without pain. Now I just use the pump and life is good.

Any submersible pump with length of hose will do, just be aware that the higher it has to pump the water the slower the flow rate will be.

You put dechlorinator in the tank itself to the ammount needed to treat the whole tank.

It is, what you do is add the dechlorinator to the tank BEFORE you add the tap water.

Also, unless the tank is a reasonable size, you may need to warm the water before adding to the tank to avoid a big temperature swing.

I just set the desired temperature on the tap itself before I let it flow into the tank. The dechlorinator can be put during the water change

To be honest dechlorinating this way would be easier as I've got super concentrated stuff which is hard to measure for individual buckets lol. What size pipes do most pumps/power heads take?

I use a pump to drain my tank straight into a hose that goes into a sink

Then the other way round for filling the tank. I fill the sink, sit the pump in the sink submerged then fill the tank

Miles easier than using buckets

This is the kinda thing I'd like to do, what pump do you use and what hose? Thanks

Cheap 1200L/h pump from amazon, cost about a tenner and a basic wilko / home base / Asda hosepipe

Uv just got to make sure you have enough water to keep the pump submerged. Because I use a sink which holds about 10 litres I have to keep the tap running. So to me it's a 2 man job, 1 stands by the tank and 1 by the sink

i use a modified hosepipe adapter connected to my outflow of my filter to take water out, to put the water in i bought a wheelie bin fill it up stick a heater and some dechlorinator in and leave over night, then de-atach my filter pipe inlet and use my filter to pump the water back in, all in all, it takes probasbly 30 mins maybe less to do a water change on my 330L tank i go 50 to 70% water change as well every time

there is this. changer

Python are now gone. and, it seems, their patents are lapsed too.

even if you could have got a python, in the UK, it wouldn't have fitter our taps anyway.
you would have ended up making the adaptors. (not actually as easy as it may sound)

but the above link, and gear from LEE systems, seem to be gaining popularity.
