In my 40 gallon tank i just noticed that their are bubbles around the edges, almost like a bettas bubble nest but not quite. Anyone have a clue whats going on?

I dont have anything in my tank that im aware of that makes buble nests..

2x angels
12x harlequins
2x red eye tetra
4x albino corys.

Thanks

Josh

i get bubbles around the edge of my tank from my filter where it is aggetating the water... do you have an internal filter? and if so how much is it disturbing the waters surface? enough the create bubbles?

These are possible causes:

1) Recent water change
2) Decomposing matter within your substrate
3) Over-active surface ripples caused by the filter vent
4) 'Sticky' water. Events 2&3 doubled with insufficient water changes

You've ruled out bubble-nest builders, and I can't see any froom your list. I don't think medication would've caused this as you've not mentioned using it. :)

the only thing i add is 'Leaf Zone' for my plants. I add that once a week everyweek. i have 2 Hang on filters, i would be using other but they do great for me so i keep on useing them. They odnt make much of a disturbance, not enough to cause bubbles i dont think. This is the first time its happened to me, so i was confused.

Betta Nests?! Is that wat those white bubbles are aroud the edge of my tank! when he was in his bowl at the edge there was alot or bubbles i passed it off as his breathin or sumthing :p

I use a plant food additive and get bubbles after I add it. Thats probably the cause of the bubbles. I had to lower the dosage because the only way I could get rid of the bubbles would be a water change and that would defeat the purpose of adding the plant food.

I wouldn't really know. I keep bettas and the bubbles I get is their nests.

i sometimes get bubbles from my plants, guess it is them making oxygen out of co2 or something.

I get a lot of oxygen bubbles from my plants too, if you look closely you can even see them streaming out!
