Bubblenests

Hey netty!

It looks like a no-go with the first attempt.

I've decided to try another pair I have (I've been conditioning all of my bettas just incase )

I put Francois in the breeding tank with Jovi in her chimney last night. He had already made a smallish bubblenest and she is full of eggs and showing bars already. I've let her out and Francois is accepting her in his nest already!

I have a good feeling about this spawn.

I can feel it in my waters

Hope your waters are right!!!!

Sounds really promising so far......just keep a close eye on them and try not to miss the wrapping. It really is great to watch if you can.

Will check for updates soon....you've got such stunning fish to breed from and can't wait to see the babies you get from them

Ok well she isn't allowed in the nest anymore. I think he just didn't notice her there the first time.

I'm worried though...

She is full of eggs and is showing the bars, but she keeps hiding from him because he keeps attacking and chasing her.

What will happen if she drops her eggs before they get a chance to spawn?

It's perfectly normal for him to chase her and is part of their courtship. One of ours took about 24rs. If you're overly concerned then pop her back in her chimney overnight and release again the next day. We've found that they start spawning alot quicker this way.

We've only had one girl release her eggs too early while she was in the chimney....we let her out quickly and the male started wrapping her. Obviously the eggs she released were infertile but the rest that were released whilst wrapping were ok. We've still ended up with 15 gorgeous babies (Keaper and his siblings).

Ok, well she is back in the chimney and Francois is back under the cup making his nest bigger. Making a lot of bedrooms

I've decided to keep a tally now...

Spawn #1 Moey and Sparkle FAILED! (don't know what happened)

Spawn #2 Francois and Jovi FAILED! (Francois beat Jovi up too much before spawning)



I've taken them both out and am medicating Jovi for her wounds.


Now I have Richie and Sambora ( ) in there. God I hope this one turns out. I only have 1 other male and no suitable female for another spawn after this.

Got my toes crossed for ya, as I'm typing with at least two fingers.

Ok well Sambora beat up Richie, so I guess that one FAILED!

I put Moey and Sparkle back in because I know they like eachother. They are both under the nest, but haven't seen any wrapping yet and she is still full of eggs. Couldn't notice any vertical bars though, even though she is a darkish fish.

I have a question...

Because the first few spawns failed because of the parents fighting, does that mean I can't try with them again because they just simply don't like eachother?

I hope not, I would love some Francois and Jovi babies. They looked so cute together in the tank
