Hi All,

Have been attempting to spawn two of my bettas together and have set up a little tank
with a heater, fake plants, foam cup etc... and have conditioned the bettas for around 2 weeks.

he had built a massive bubblenest under the cup and she looked like she had swallowed
a marble. (at this point she was in a chimney setup so they could see each other)

i released her last night and he had been chasing her around for a long time
maybe 2 hours on and off....

i checked his nest and its all gone... any ideas? could their rapid movement around the tank
have disrupted the nest?

will he rebuild the nest while she is loose or back to the chimney?

thanks in advance

Adam

What worked best for me was to release the female in the tank right away, let him see her and chase her a bit so he realizes "WOW there's a GIRL in my tank!" and then put her in the chimney so that he can build his nest, then release her when it's nice and big. In your situation I would put the female back in the vase and let the male rebuild his nest. It sounds like he's so wrapped up in chasing the female that he's completely forgotten about the nest, lol.

Yep, when that happened with mine, I put her back in the chimney until he had rebuilt his nest. :good:
