Ramjet made his first bubble nest since ive got him :D Its only taken him 8months!!!!!! It only took my striping back his tank to just gravel and water for him to do it............weird......

What do i do with it? Im a bit unsure if to move it, get rid of it what what....

If you have a female in with him they might breed (if the female is ready to breed), but otherwise just leave him be. His nest will get damaged when you do a water change and he will rebuild it. You only need to worry about the nest when you are breeding them.

:hyper: clever boy. A few of mine are bubbling this week, spring is coming! When I clean mine out I scoop a bit of the nest and put it back in with them, so naughty of us to destroy their beautiful work!

Nah havent got a female...yet...im just curious as to why suddenly he has made a nest. Maybe hes suffering anxiety from going to a full tank rather than a half...either that or the mega water change may of been way overdue. Yesterday i totally stripped back his tank because there was a filtration issue so i pulled the divider out and now they have their own 28ltr tanks each. I put my PK in the other tank so now they have tanks to themselves. Males and females cant be kept together can they? (I dont think so...) im wanting a female but i would need to keep her in my 3ft communal tank and i dont know how she would go in there. I would have to get a few females i rekon. I actually thought my PK was a female betta because he was in the female betta tank....but apparently it is a boy...

The pk i thought was a girl..but not...is it a girl or boy? im confused because it looks similar in body shape to a girl but people say its not...

It is a boy , a male short finned Plakat. Not all male bettas have long flowing fins, pet shops often dont realise this and sell them as girls. But if you put that he/she in with your pink VT boy you would have a fight! Netty usually pops a pic of diesel her PK boy up for comparison!
The most telling sign with yours is those long ventricals!
Breeding seriously isnt easy, so it might be a good thing you have two boys it is a lot of work and money Im on week 5 of my spawn now and I can tell you even though i read up and was totally prepared its still difficult and time consuming!

Yeah Netty showed me her fishy and its the same so thats how i knew it was a boy. Id like to get some females for my communal tank. My PK and Ramjet were divided in the tank by a divider. I had the same set up as Netty. Ramjet is a bit raggered because he jumped into the other side and met Pinky my veil tail boy...

Im hunting around on aqua bid for a nice girl to keep in my 3ft tank.

Can you mix breeds? eg: HMoon with a VTail?

Do you mean mix females with different tail types? If so then yes they can be kept together fine.

If they don't keep adding to them or the air gets in they will start to disappear. I notice sometimes when I lift the lid of the tank, you can see the bubbles start popping.
