my betta keeps on and keeps on attempting to make a bubble nest... why?
There is nothing similar to a female, except maybe a few plants. Which he understands are plants by now....
but at the top front corner of the tank, he keeps trying for a bubble nest, which the airstone's bubbles destroy after three minutes... pooor guy....

should i do something?

Nothing to worry about-- bubblenests are good things! :D It's just a sign that your little guy is happy, healthy, and wants to spawn. They'll do it even without a female around. :)

Also, bettas have labyrinth organs which allow them to take in air from the surface, so there's no need at all for an airstone. Airstones tend to annoy bettas actually, lol. :)

Hmmmm. So you think i should take the airstone out?

okay. Now my betta doesn't have to deal with an airstone, black base in the tank, or long tube structure in the middle. It even makes the gallon look twice as big IM, to have the base gone and the big tube gone. Thanks! I like it a lot! and no noise :D

Wow
I woke up this morning, and there's like, huge bubblenests in the tank. They've moved from one side to another, and he justs keeps making them.

I kinda feel sorry, cause he doesn't have a female to go with the nest :(

Don't worry, he doesn't have to have a female. Just be happy you have yourself a healthy male :)

haha. Thanks.... but it just kinda worries me. The ONLY thing he keeps doing is making a bubble nest. It's started to thicken, and it's taken up 1/4 the tank. I'm just a tad scared of health....

Nothing wrong with his health.. he is being a healthy male betta. Doing what he wants to do. You must be doing something right for him. Don't change your routine ;)

Well, the tank is one gallon (most people recommend 2.5... i know)

I feed him betta pellets, and give him a little bit of the blood worms when i give my dragon goby some....
Red gravel.... ( i wanted natural color, but it's all in the 10 g...)
I've got live plants growing, i forget the exact name....
And a snail.

And he's just making huge bubble nest...

The snail keeps walking into them and mkaing holes, whereupon the betta has to construct the nest twice as big to mkae himself secure

Meh, as i said i would put 5 ghost shrimp in there and see what happens. If they get eaten they arent too expensive. (I think) Plus if they grow big enough you can put them in your 10 gallon :)

Bret

You have a Betta that is making huge bubble nests? That's cool! I wish mine did that. :(

Yeah. and for some reason it wont stop either. It's getting pretty odd.

I think it may be the music even... I seriouslyy dobut it....

Christian Rock seems to upset it, yet French Metal/Power metal seems to make him happier and more content....
