One of the gruesome guppy varieties: The bubble eye guppy...
Not my favorite...!
It's a pity that there's a market for these horror creatures...

How bizarre. This is a new one on me. I've only known that mutation to have emerged in goldfish.

To me, that's cruelty breeding. It CAN be done, but it shouldn't be.
True! It can be done but shouldn't be. But the fact remains that there's sadly a market for such misshaped creatures.

Same goes for the socalled lionhead. It's already a fact in guppies as well. It's sad! But especially in Asia, the demand for such fish is enormous.

I would think similar to ballon body, and parrot fish, or extreme long finage

I find it so curious that two entirely unrelated species--goldfish and guppies--would each produce the same uniquely bizarre mutations. Let alone that these mutations are centuries old in goldfish and recent in guppies.

I wouldn't be surprised if they would breed this trait also in swordtails, platies or even mollies. The ornamental trade in Asia is full of it...
